Aerogen sponsors Galway International Arts Festival’s Galway 2020 project.
Irish aerosol drug delivery firm Aerogen is delighted to announce its support for Galway International Arts Festival’s Galway 2020 project, John Gerrard’s Mirror Pavilion, the Galway City iteration of which was unveiled at Claddagh Quay this afternoon.
Mirror Pavilion is an imposing, seven metre cubed structure, with three sides and the roof clad in a highly reflective mirror and the fourth wall a high resolution LED screen, which plays host to two new artworks, Corn Work and Leaf Work.
The works push the boundaries of digital art, with Gerrard using cutting edge technology usually employed by the commercial gaming industry to create virtual worlds that simulate extremely detailed and authentic landscapes.
Mirror Pavilion is a response to the escalating climate crisis and will be powered by sustainable energy sources at both its Claddagh Quay, Galway City (3 – 26 September) and Derrigimlagh Bog, Connemara iterations (11 – 31 October).

Mirror Pavilion, by world renowned Irish artist John Gerrard, was commissioned by Galway International Arts Festival for Galway’s European Capital of Culture 2020. It is a work of two parts, Corn Work and Leaf Work, presented in two locations in the west of Ireland. It opened in Galway City on 3 September and will be the largest outdoor visual art project in Ireland this year.The work, which has been two years in the making, is a response to the escalating climate crisis and pushes the boundaries of digital art using cutting edge technology.

About Galway International Arts Festival
The multidisciplinary Galway International Arts Festival takes place each July in Galway, Ireland and covers a range of art forms. In 2019, over 200 events took place in 30 venues over the course of 14 days with an attendance in excess of 260,000. Galway International Arts Festival also has a rich tradition of producing captivating and engaging work, which premieres at the Festival and goes on to tour internationally and nationally. In recent years, GIAF has toured productions to New York (Incantata; Arlington, Ballyturk); Washington (Rooms; riverrun); London (Rooms); and Dublin (Grief is the Thing with Feathers, Ballyturk, riverrun). In the past, it has also toured to Edinburgh, Chicago, Adelaide, Sydney, Hong Kong and Prague.
